99 Macquarie Street was born in 1938. The brainchild of architects Budden and Mackey the site was first built as the home for the former Department of Motor Transport and Tramways, then known as Transport House.
A renowned example of inter-war design, the style is classical with an art deco influence.
Contructed primarily of sandstone the site later housed commercial businesses and The Hotel School Sydney until 2007 when its illustrious past ended and its exciting future began.
The iconic heritage building has been extensively refurbished to its original heritage glory where the framework of one of Sydney’s most stunning sandstone edifices has been reborn with contemporary internal modern workspaces. You might say it's the best of both worlds past and present or more simply - modern history.
